Regarding the title, there’s some interesting wordplay. The phrase “合縁奇縁” (Aien Kien) is defined as “a couple strangely but happily united; uncanny relationship formed by a quirk of fate”, but in this case the title is written with “煙”, a word that means “smoke, fumes”, in place of “縁”. They have the same pronunciation.
